About G#sus2

The G#sus2 chord is made up of G# (root), A# (second) and D# (perfect fifth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 2 – 5. With no third it leaves the harmony undefined: it sounds open and modern, and it is used a lot in pop and rock.

G#sus2 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 24 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. G#sus2 is also written as Absus2: the same chord with the root spelled differently, and it sounds identical. The more common spelling is Absus2.
