About Gbsus4

Gbsus4 is built from three notes: Gb (root), Cb (perfect fourth) and Db (perfect fifth). Its interval formula is 1 – 4 – 5. With no third, the perfect fourth asks to resolve; it is very common right before the major or minor chord on the same root.

Gbsus4 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 28 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Another way to write Gbsus4 is F#sus4 (the same piano key, with a different name). The usual choice is F#sus4.
