About Ebsus4

Ebsus4 is built from three notes: Eb (root), Ab (perfect fourth) and Bb (perfect fifth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 4 – 5. It is a suspended chord: it replaces the third with the perfect fourth, which creates a tension that usually resolves to the major chord.

Ebsus4 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 22 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Ebsus4 is also written as D#sus4: the same chord with the root spelled differently, and it sounds identical. The more common spelling is Ebsus4.
