About Eb7

Eb7 is built from four notes: Eb (root), G (major third), Bb (perfect fifth) and Db (minor seventh). Its interval formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – b7. The minor seventh adds a tension that asks to resolve, which is why it is the typical chord on the fifth degree of a key.

Eb7 has 4 common voicings, based on the D, C, A and G shapes of the CAGED system. The viewer also shows 32 more voicings, from easiest to hardest. Another way to write Eb7 is D#7 (the same piano key, with a different name). Eb7 is the usual choice.
