About Db7

The Db7 chord is made up of Db (root), F (major third), Ab (perfect fifth) and Cb (minor seventh). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – b7. It is a dominant seventh chord: a major chord plus a minor seventh, which gives it the characteristic tension of blues and jazz.

Db7 has 4 common voicings, based on the C, A, G and E shapes of the CAGED system. There are 51 more voicings sorted by difficulty; use the viewer switches to add inversions and stretches. Another way to write Db7 is C#7 (the same piano key, with a different name). Db7 is the usual choice.
