About C#7

C#7 is built from four notes: C# (root), E# (major third), G# (perfect fifth) and B (minor seventh). Its interval formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – b7. The minor seventh adds a tension that asks to resolve, which is why it is the typical chord on the fifth degree of a key.

C#7 has 4 common voicings, based on the C, A, G and E shapes of the CAGED system. The viewer also shows 51 more voicings, from easiest to hardest. Another way to write C#7 is Db7 (the same piano key, with a different name). The usual choice is Db7.
