About Bb diminished
The Bb diminished chord is made up of Bb (root), Db (minor third) and Fb (diminished fifth). Its interval formula is 1 – b3 – b5. It is a diminished chord: it stacks two minor thirds, sounds tense and unstable, and usually resolves to another chord.
Bb diminished has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 11 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Bb diminished is also written as A# diminished: the same chord with the root spelled differently, and it sounds identical. The more common spelling is Bb diminished.
