About Gbsus2

Gbsus2 is built from three notes: Gb (root), Ab (second) and Db (perfect fifth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 2 – 5. It is a suspended chord: it swaps the third for the second, so it is neither major nor minor and sounds open and floating.

Gbsus2 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 18 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Gbsus2 is also written as F#sus2: the same chord with the root spelled differently, and it sounds identical. The more common spelling is F#sus2.
