About Fmaj7

Fmaj7 is built from four notes: F (root), A (major third), C (perfect fifth) and E (major seventh). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – 7. It is a major seventh chord: it sounds smooth, elegant and a little dreamy, and it is widely used in jazz, bossa nova and pop.

Fmaj7 has 4 common voicings, based on the E, D, C and A shapes of the CAGED system. There are 25 more voicings sorted by difficulty; use the viewer switches to add inversions and stretches.
