About Ebm7

Ebm7 is built from four notes: Eb (root), Gb (minor third), Bb (perfect fifth) and Db (minor seventh). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – b3 – 5 – b7. It is a minor seventh chord: it keeps the melancholy of the minor chord, but softer and closer to jazz.

Ebm7 has 2 common voicings, based on the D and A shapes of the CAGED system. There are 15 more voicings sorted by difficulty; use the viewer switches to add inversions and stretches. Another way to write Ebm7 is D#m7 (the same piano key, with a different name). Ebm7 is the usual choice.
