About Dm7

Dm7 is built from four notes: D (root), F (minor third), A (perfect fifth) and C (minor seventh). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – b3 – 5 – b7. It is a minor seventh chord: it keeps the melancholy of the minor chord, but softer and closer to jazz.

Dm7 has 3 common voicings, based on the D, A and E shapes of the CAGED system. There are 28 more voicings sorted by difficulty; use the viewer switches to add inversions and stretches.
