About Dadd9

Dadd9 is built from four notes: D (root), F# (major third), A (perfect fifth) and E (ninth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – 9. The added ninth gives the major chord an open, modern color, widely used in pop and rock.

Dadd9 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 65 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck.
