About C# diminished
C# diminished is built from three notes: C# (root), E (minor third) and G (diminished fifth). Its interval formula is 1 – b3 – b5. It is a diminished chord: it stacks two minor thirds, sounds tense and unstable, and usually resolves to another chord.
C# diminished has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 25 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Another way to write C# diminished is Db diminished (the same piano key, with a different name). C# diminished is the usual choice.
