About Bb augmented
The Bb augmented chord is made up of Bb (root), D (major third) and F# (augmented fifth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 3 – #5. It is an augmented chord: it stacks two major thirds and sounds ambiguous and suspended, as if it wants to resolve.
Bb augmented has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 24 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck. Another way to write Bb augmented is A# augmented (the same piano key, with a different name). Bb augmented is the usual choice.
