About Badd9
Badd9 is built from four notes: B (root), D# (major third), F# (perfect fifth) and C# (ninth). In scale degrees above the root, the formula is 1 – 3 – 5 – 9. The added ninth gives the major chord an open, modern color, widely used in pop and rock.
Badd9 has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 25 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck.
