About A diminished
The A diminished chord is made up of A (root), C (minor third) and Eb (diminished fifth). Its interval formula is 1 – b3 – b5. It is a diminished chord: it stacks two minor thirds, sounds tense and unstable, and usually resolves to another chord.
A diminished has no standard open shape in the CAGED system, so its 20 voicings are sorted only by difficulty and position on the neck.
